Stewart’s Shops has been named a Times Union Top Workplace for a 6th time!
This award is truly unique because it is 100% based on employee feedback. Over 17,000 employees participated in the survey, the companies who won the award prioritize people and culture to create the best workplace possible. Employees from winning companies said they felt “engaged and appreciated.”
There were 6 different categories. Categories included, company values and goals, employee engagement and growth opportunities, together with compensation and benefits. To win the award, companies need to score well in all the categories not just one or two categories.
With 350+ shops across 32 counties in New York and Vermont, Stewart’s Shops is one of the largest employers in the Capital Region. Including our shops, manufacturing plant and corporate office, we have over 5,000 employees.
Benefits of Being a Partner
We call our employees Partners because they truly are partners in the business. Our Partners own over 40% of the company through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP.
Partners who work at least 1,000 hours a year are eligible for the program, a benefit for anyone working 1,000 hours a year. Unlike a 401K, the plan is 100% company paid and no money is taken from a Partner’s earnings. After six years in the plan, a Partner’s balance is usually greater than a year’s pay.
Our ESOP plan is just one of many other benefits of being a Partner. We offer paid maternity leave, half- priced YMCA fitness and YMCA childcare. We have health benefits, vision, and dental coverage, paid vacation and the Stewart’s Credit Union.
Our “Make Your Own” scholarship awards over $300,000 per year for Partners and their dependents to further their education.
