For over a decade, Stewart’s Shops has been supporting Things of My Very Own. This non-profit organization provides crisis intervention services to children impacted by extensive abuse or neglect. The organization also helps children at risk of a child protective services intervention due to lack of necessities.
Since it was founded in 2008. Things of My Very Own has helped children in 11 counties across New York’s Capital Region and surrounding areas.
Our 2020 Holiday Match donation went to toward essentials for the kids and families in need. All the necessities for a family are provided through Things of My Very Own. Mattresses, bed sheets, toothpaste, deodorant and other essentials, clothing, and even emergency food and medical supplies are all given to families in need through Things of My Very Own.
It is not uncommon for families to leave an abusive situation with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. At any given moment, a family could need assistance and reach out. Depending on what a family needs, the inventory at Things of My Very Own could be wiped out at any moment. Donations are so important to an organization like this so they can stay stocked and provide support for every family that needs it, whenever they need it.
