“Summer goes by quickly and it’s difficult to find time to relax and enjoy a day at the lake. Having just moved to a new town this summer, my husband and I decided to take advantage of a lovely day even though we should have been unpacking.
I was anxious to get on the road and find a new fishing spot (we were unfamiliar with the area), and we needed to gather up all the things we’d need for the day before we could even start looking for a place to drop our lines. We hadn’t really investigated the town much, but knew we needed a grocery store to grab some beverages and lunch, and we needed a bait shop to grab some live crawlers. And let’s hope the grocery store also sold sunscreen, because the sun was blazing.
Immediately as we entered the main strip, I saw it in all its glory…a Stewart’s Shop. Although I hadn’t lived near one since I was a kid, I had fond memories of stopping at Stewart’s with my father when I was a child on our way out fishing. I turned into the parking lot; the day had just gotten easier.
We walked in and I headed to round up lunch while my husband went off to locate the fishing worms that had been advertised on the door. Upon seeing me struggle to find a cheeseless, tomatoless, sandwich option for my picky-eater husband, the sales associate kindly offered to whip me up a special made sandwich right quick while I did my other shopping. Perfect. I opted for an egg salad sandwich from the cooler, which was clearly made fresh and ready to go. I grabbed a bag of chips, a couple apples, and some Stewart’s Refreshers, which are flavorful, inexpensive, and fit perfectly in the cup holder of our fishing chairs.
When I met my husband back at the register, not only had he found the nightcrawlers, but he had also grabbed the sunscreen and spoken to a group of friendly locals about the closest place to reel in a few big fish. We had absolutely everything we needed, including a destination!
Although we didn’t catch any record-setting fish that day, we did get plenty of bites and fully enjoyed some relaxation. And although we didn’t get sunburns, we did feel quite drained by the heat at the end of the day. Good thing I knew where the nearest Stewart’s Shop was! We pulled right back into that store to cool down with double scoops of Fireworks ice cream before heading home.
All of our belongings are in order now and our new place feels like home. And since that day, we hit up our new fishing spot every chance we get, but not before stopping at our new favorite Stewart’s Shop both before and after our trip.”
