Stewart’s Shops annual Holiday Match Program benefited 1,939 nonprofits last year.
To give our generous customers a snapshot of the organizations that received Holiday Match funding a year ago, Stewart’s spent some time with staff and young girls who are part of Girls Inc., a nonprofit focused on inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold!
Stewart’s and the Dake Family have been supporting Girls Inc. and its mission for more than two decades. Last year, Holiday match provided funds for Girls Inc.’s after school programs in Albany, Schenectady and Troy.
Girls Inc. offers help with homework and baking as well as instruction in math, science, technology and engineering with a goal of providing opportunities for young ladies to become interested in subjects that could lead to rewarding careers. A month of programming costs about $400 per girl.
As Girls Inc. member Kasondra, says, “If you just put your mind to it, you can do it!”
It is programs like this that benefit from Stewart’s Shops’ generous customers who donated more than $1 million last year. With the Stewart’s match, a total of $2,034,000 was invested in local nonprofits benefiting children last year.
