Stewart’s Shops Helps A Local Boy Scout Troop Give Back!

Years ago, Boy Scout Troop #1062 from Latham, NY reached out to us asking for support of an Eagle Scout project. The project was meant to bring some joy to the children at St. Catherine’s Center for Children in Albany. Now, seven years later and the Eagle Scout project long since completed, the troop still has this event every year!

St. Catherine’s is a human services provider for children and families, helping address issues such as child abuse, neglect, homelessness, special education, and more. The boy scout troop planned a fun party for the kids who are living away from their families during the holiday season, and we were able to offer our support by donating a Make Your Own Sundae bar for the party. Now, not only do we still provide the sundae bar, but we are able to support this event through our Holiday Match program as well!

Carol Diotte, the troop’s Fundraising Chair and mother of the scout who first began this annual event, says “Although my son is now in college, the troop still hosts the party. With your generous donation each year we have been able to purchase and fill stockings for all of the children. This year we filled and distributed 34 stockings and provided candy bags for all the children who live at the Center’s three residential facilities.”

Stewart’s Shops is proud to support this event and many others. This past week alone we were able to donate $25,812 to 90 organizations. Check out the listing below:
