YMCA of the Capital District, We Are Closer To You

We recently donated $100,000 to the YMCA of the Capital District for their annual campaign.

This year’s campaign is particularly unique because the pandemic put so much stress on the organization. Even through the uncertainty of the last few years, the Y was able to provide essential programs and services to their communities.

Many people who used the Y and its programs before the pandemic needed their services even more as everyone faced new challenges. In 2021, the Y distributed over 1 million pounds of food to families in need, provided $800,000 in financial assistance, safely cared for 1,600 children and so much more.

The Y believes a strong community can only be achieved when investments are made in kids, health, and your neighbors. They focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Communities they are in have been benefitting from their help since 1851. The Capital District YMCA is one of the oldest YMCA districts in the country.

The Capital District YMCA is home to eight YMCAs and two YMCA camps.  Each location offers a variety of activities to its members ranging from adult tennis and swimming lessons to children’s Easter egg hunts.  Through the Y, parents can also receive childcare, enrichment programs in STEM and other subjects, themed summer camps and more.

Like many Stewart’s Shops, the Y can be the center of many communities. They provide a safe and fun environment for all members of their communities.  Like us, the YMCA believes in supporting and strengthening the communities they are in. Our partnership with the YMCA goes back over 20 years and is one we are proud of. Working together, we have helped organize outreach programs, sailing programs, and etiquette classes for kids, just to name a few. There is no limit on what the YMCA will do to bring its communities together.

Together we are Supporting Our Communities.
