Throughout the pandemic we have supported our communities as COVID-19 created new challenges for everyone and communities needed more support than ever.
Our partnerships with the Town of Greenfield as well as Albany, Warren, Washington and Montgomery Counties have provided over 21,000 free COVID test kits since the start of the pandemic. The tests kits have been available at our shops free of charge for residents of the counties. A Stewart’s Shop can be the hub of many small towns so in rural areas they are a convenient stop and recognizable destination, making distribution quick and easy.
We’ve also partnered with counties and their health departments to host vaccination clinics. In Ulster, Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties, Stewart’s Shops became a pop up site for vaccination clinics.
In 2021, we provided over $1 million in relief to hundreds of organizations impacted by COVID-19. Many nonprofits experienced a huge increase in demand for their services. However, the pandemic caused organizations to cancel fundraising events. Organizations quickly had less funds and more people to help.
Our COVID- 19 relief grants helped organizations continue to provide support to communities in need. School districts were able to keep their backpack programs stocked with bread, milk and eggs. Organizations were able to purchase art supplies to provide community members in stressful times. Some organizations expanded their virtual learning programs.
Our continued support in these unprecedented times earned us the title of COVID-19 Community Champion from St. Catherine’s Center for Children. We supported St. Catherine’s Impact fund with a $20,000 donation. This fund was able to support all the ongoing changes that needed to be made when COVID-19 hit.
Supporting our communities is an important part of who we are at Stewart’s Shops. As counties reach out and need help with test kit distribution or hosting a vaccination clinic, we will work with them to provide these services.
