Stewart’s Shops has been recognized for the 8th time as a Top Workplace by the Albany Times Union newspaper.

Stewart’s employs 5,500 people who operate more than 400 convenience stores across upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.

Stewart’s was among 49 businesses out of more than 25,000 in the region that were recognized at the 14th annual Times Union Top Workplaces event held April 10th at the Old Daley on Crooked Lake conference center in Averill Park.

“This is a great honor. It is a testament to the ownership and hard work of our partners who make an impact serving hundreds of communities every day,” said Tony Carnevale, vice president of personnel at Stewart’s Shops.

Stewart’s is employee- and family-owned. Our employees, who we call partners, own 40 percent of the company. That is one of the many factors that set Stewart’s apart.

Stewart’s employee stock ownership plan has helped 210 employees become millionaires.

The ESOP program has not only helped Stewart’s become stronger because of employee ownership, it has allowed Stewart’s partners to grow personally and professionally.

Stewart’s invests in our employees in many ways. We pride ourself on training and growing partners. And our vertical integration creates opportunities for partners to explore new and exciting roles from retail, food safety and manufacturing to transportation, distribution, finance and marketing.
