Stewart’s introduces ‘common cents’ approach to penny shortage

Stewart's Shops introduces new policy to address U.S. penny shortage.

Stewart’s Shops is rolling out a new policy for handling change in response to the national shortage in pennies.

This policy was created after U.S. Mints stopped making one-cent coins this month.

Stewart’s response is simple. We round up for you.

For example, if a customer is owed one penny, Stewart’s will give the customer a nickel.

It makes ‘cents’ to give the customer a break.
