One of our benefits that can go unnoticed is our partnership with CDTA and their universal access program in the Capital District The partnership provides Stewart’s employees unlimited access to the CDTA route network with just a swipe of their CDTA Navigator card.
With the cost of transportation so expensive, this is a great benefit for a Partner. The universal access program guarantees a reliable and free ride to and from work. Partners who use this benefit are also doing their part to help the environment.
According to the American Public Transportation Association, public transportation use saves the U.S. the equivalent of 4.2 billion gallons of gasoline annually. Each day, public transportation is responsible for keeping 300,000 automobiles off the road. Less automobiles on the roads lead to less congestion, it was estimated around 865 million hours of travel time were saved by public transportation.

We call our employees Partners because they truly are partners in the business. Our Partners own over 40% of the company through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP.
Partners who work at least 1,000 hours a year are eligible for the program, a benefit for anyone working 1,000 hours a year. Unlike a 401K, the plan is 100% company paid and no money is taken from a Partner’s earnings. After six years in the plan, a Partner’s balance is usually greater than a year’s pay.
Our ESOP plan is just one of many other benefits of being a Partner. We offer paid maternity leave, half- priced YMCA fitness and YMCA childcare. We have health benefits, vision, and dental coverage, paid vacation, and the Stewart’s Credit Union.
