Stewart’s Shops won the gold medal in the 2026 New York State Dairy Products Competition, marking the fifth straight year the company has won the award.
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets announced the dairy award winners last week at the New York State Fair in Syracuse.
Stewart’s Mint Cookie Crumble ice cream won 1st place for best ice cream in the open class category. Stewart’s also won a silver medal in the buttermilk competition.
The New York State Dairy Products contest is part of a highly-competitive program run by Cornell University and the Department of Agriculture and Markets.
The program highlights the hard work and innovation of the nearly 2,700 dairy producers across New York State. This year, a total of 187 producers competed in 26 categories in the dairy products contest including milk, ice cream, cheese, sour cream and yogurt.
Stewart’s milk and ice cream have faired well in the competition due to the hard work and dedication of 21 locally-run family farms who produce milk for Stewart’s Shops. Stewart’s also credits the talented teams at its dairy and ice cream plant in Greenfield, New York, who are committed to making products that maintain freshness and quality.
