As Cheyenne was growing up, Stewart’s Shops was the place where her family would buy their milk, bread, eggs and, sometimes, ice cream.
She had no idea when she started working part-time at Stewart’s in high school that it would pave the way to a career.
After three years working in the shop, Cheyenne grew quickly from shop partner to district food safety inspector. Today, she is one of the key members of the Stewart’s corporate team responsible for maintaining food safety and quality standards for 400 shops across New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.
‘There is so much opportunity’
“For anyone else who is looking to grow, my advice to you is, don’t just stand by and wait to be taught,” Cheyenne said. “Be curious. Ask questions. Put yourself out there and show your interest.”
Cheyenne’s role gives her an opportunity to work with hundreds of Stewart’s partners, visiting shops in three states, teaching them about food safety and quality and showing them how to properly clean equipment.
When she is not busy training partners and inspecting up to 50 shops a year, Cheyenne’s schedule also allows her to pursue a lifelong passion. She is an accomplished breakaway calf roper, competing in rodeos throughout the Northeast.
“I have worked for Stewart’s for 15 years and the flexibility absolutely is attractive,” Cheyenne said. “It is important to have a good home and work life balance.”
