We are proud to support THE MONKEY Short Film (from novel Skeleton Crew with a renamed dedicated ice cream flavor). Saratoga’s own, Spencer Sherry is the young filmmaker bestowed upon by Stephen King to make this film for just $1.
Sherry submitted his screenplay, received approval to participate in the author’s ‘Dollar Babies’ program. Coined by the author himself, a Dollar Baby refers to the not-for-profit projects that he shares with film students and aspiring filmmakers who are trying to make it in the industry. Multiple famous directors and filmmakers, like Frank Darabont with The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile got their start through this program.
With Cheesecake being Stephen King’s favorite dessert, we thought of the perfect ice cream to have at the world premiere of the short film on May 6th 12-5pm at Saratoga ARTS. Lucky ticket holders will have the opportunity to sample Salted CARRIE-mel Cheesecake. Our seasonal Salted Caramel Cheesecake flavor will be renamed and available at the film premier as Salted CARRIE-mel Cheesecake. This name is based off one of Stephen King’s most popular pieces of work, “Carrie”. This ice cream is a caramel cheesecake flavored ice cream with a salted caramel swirl and baked cheesecake pieces.
There are three showings of THE MONKEY Short Film on Saturday May 6th. The showtimes are 1pm, 3pm and 4:45pm at Saratoga ARTS. Due to Saratoga’s overwhelming community support in the arts, tickets are sold out! There will be more showings throughout New York with the next showing in Oneonta at the Foothills Performing Arts & Civic Center on May 13th.
