Between ice cream socials, sporting events, and end of school year celebrations, our donations team was BUSY in June. We were able to help 767 organizations make their events a success with Stewart’s products and monetary donations. These donations totaled $184,348 just in the month of June and Stewart’s Shops/Dake Family gave even more. Keep reading for a BIG pledge Stewart’s Shops/Dake Family made to the Mechanicville Community Center.
One of many donations included a iced tea and refresher donation to a Syracuse Middle School for their 3rd Annual Charity Fun Run. This year they had 400 kids run in a 1.25 mile race and they raised $1,340 for Cuse Pit Crew.
In addition, Stewart’s Shops/Dake Family recently pledged $50,000 to the Mechanicville Community Center. The Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (MACSC) is in its 50th year serving their community and its surrounding communities improving the lives of area residents through family support, empowerment, recreation, and education. In honor of this milestone, Stewart’s Shops pledged $50,000, if the organization could match the amount by the end of the year. The staff of MACSC has been working hard to meet the match and has collected $40,000 in pledges so far.
The MASC is a true asset to the Mechanicville community. MACSC embraces empowerment based community programming which includes: domestic violence advocacy and educational outreach, family development programming, emergency assistance including food pantry, satellite services like WIC and Child Health Plus enrollment, free income tax preparation, and preschool with wrap around childcare for working parents. MACSC will use this money to develop programming which is in line with its mission statement to “Improve the lives of area residents through family support, empowerment, recreation and education.”
