A recommendation from a friend prompted Svitlana to consider a career at Stewart’s Shops 2.5 years ago.
Svitlana had just moved to the United States from Ukraine, where she studied economics and law. She also spent two years setting up wills, trusts and estates for a bank before moving to the United States in September 2022.
“It was the start of my American life,” Svitlana said. “I spoke very little English at the time, but I became comfortable in my job pretty quickly.”
For a little more than a year, Svitlana worked in Stewart’s commercial kitchen, making sandwiches, salads and entrees, but she was anxious to find a position in Stewart’s corporate offices where she could use her education and experience.
When a position opened up in Stewart’s shop financial services department, Svitlana jumped at the opportunity. Today, she is responsible for banking, working with customers, sorting out credit card issues and assisting with audits.
Svitlana has been drawn to the benefits package at Stewart’s, including the healthcare coverage and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
“I see myself as responsible, a team player and eager to learn,” Svitlana said. “My manager saw this in me and gave me a chance to show what I can do. I want to continue to grow in this company.”
