The Adirondack Regional Blood Center’s ‘Give a pint, Get a pint’ campaign with Stewart’s Shops reached a milestone as blood donations increased by more than 25% compared with last year.
September 2025 marked the second annual partnership between Stewart’s and Adirondack Regional Blood Center, a program of the University of Vermont Health Network – Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.
‘Give a pint, Get a pint’ was created to help meet demand for treating patients recovering from accidents, burns and heart surgery, as well as people battling various types of cancer.
Adirondack Regional Blood Center conducted blood drives throughout Clinton, Essex, Franklin and St. Lawrence counties in September. To help attract blood donors, Stewart’s Shops donated free certificates for a free pint of prepackaged ice cream or gelato to anyone who gave blood in participating counties.
“Our partnership with Stewart’s Shops has been a game-changer for donor engagement,” said Adirondack Regional Blood Center laboratory manager Shannon Nutbrown. “Since launching the ‘Pint for Pint’ promotion in 2024, we’ve seen a remarkable and consistent rise in donor participation—proof of what’s possible when community values align.”
Demand is so high that blood donations are needed every two seconds across the United States.
“The need for blood donors is felt everywhere,” said Stewart’s marketing director Bill Majewski. “In smaller communities across northern New York, the need is especially strong. This campaign is evidence that, by working together, we can achieve a lot.”
