 IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN
GAS PRICES EXPECTED TO RISE

HERE'S WHY...

1.  Summer blend gas is real and costs over a nickel more per gallon.
  • Google it and you'll see!
  • Summer blend is a cleaner burning gas that the government requires during the summer months to reduce pollution.
  • The impact is felt in the spring when refineries are trying to time the change from winter to summer blend gas. Supplies can run short which could result in increased costs.
  • If you live south of Poughkeepsie the EPA requires the use of even more strict summer and winter blends.

2.  There are fewer refineries.
3.  Uncertainty in stock market causes speculators to invest in commodities, driving prices up.
4.  As the dollar fluctuates, so will the price of gas.

SO THAT'S WHAT $1.26 MILLION LOOKS LIKE!

RECORD YEAR FOR MONEY RAISED AND FOR APPLICATIONS

1,359 checks have been mailed to local children's charities thanks to the generosity of Stewart's Shops' customers contributing to the annual Holiday Match campaign.  This year $1,261,800, a record amount for the 24 year old program, was donated to non-profit organizations benefiting children in a 30 county area.

"It was also a record year for applications, well over 1,400, requesting over $3.1 million. We were fortunate that our customers were very generous," said Susan Dake, Stewart's Foundation President. "Our customers donated over $630,000, which was matched by Stewart's Shops, giving us over $1.26 million dollars to allocate versus $1.14 million last year. With so many organizations experiencing challenging times, we were forced to make some especially hard decisions."

Since 1986, Stewart's has been collecting customer donations in all of their shops from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day.  The donations are matched by Stewart's, with 100% of the funds returning to the communities in which the shops are located.  Over $13.5 million has been allocated since the inception of the Holiday Match program.

The company credits the success of the program to their customers, dedicated shop partners who worked diligently to collect the funds, and the media partners who helped spread the word throughout our many regions: Capital News 9/Time Warner Cable, B95.5, WNYF Fox 28, WWNY 7 News, Froggy 107.1, Big Frog 104, Lite 98.7, WIBX, Froggy 97, Z93, WPDH 101.5, Mix 97, The Wolf 94.3, and WKNY 1490am.

Giving is part of the company's culture. Stewart's has maintained their annual budget of $2,250,000 for charitable contributions in 2010, which includes the $630,000 in matching funds for Holiday Match.  A brochure listing the recipient charities will soon be available in all shops.

STEWART'S PHILLY VANILLA ICE CREAM IS NAMED #1 IN THE WORLD!

Stewart's Ice Cream Production Partners pose for a photo outside the plant with their trophy and new jackets in honor of producing the #1 ranked vanilla ice cream in the world!

Stewart's Shops Philly Vanilla ice cream has been named the #1 vanilla ice cream in the world! That was the word from the judges at the World Dairy Expo 2009, held in Madison, Wisconsin. Philly Vanilla is named after Philly Dake, the inventor of our famous Make Your Own Sundae, the Make Your Own Scholarship for the college age children of Stewart's employees and the one who recently gave a gift of  $775,000 worth of "My Money Cards" to the over four thousand Stewart's employees.

Philly Vanilla, pure vanilla ice cream speckled with crushed vanilla beans, licked 24 other contenders from around the globe to be named the #1 Vanilla ice cream in the world. "This is a great example of the focus on fresh ingredients and quality that our customers enjoy everyday. All of us at Stewart's thank the hardworking people in our Ice Cream department" said Stewart's Shops President Gary Dake.

The judges at this year's World Dairy Championship Dairy Product Contest tested all the entries for flavor, body & texture, appearance & color, and melting quality. The award for being #1 was given out on September 29th at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. Philly Vanilla is available in pints, "full" half gallons, and at the cone counter.
