Seasonal Blends & Price Swings
You may notice gas prices head up in the springtime, and there’s a good reason. That’s the time of year when the government requires us to transition to a summer-blend of gas. It is a cleaner burning fuel that limits air pollution in the warmer weather. But it’s also more expensive – by about 20 cents a gallon versus the winter version. The change starts at the refineries and then at terminals, where we get our gas from. The summer blend gas is phased into our shops during the April and May months – so some see the increase before others. Gas stations cannot buy the less expensive Winter blend after April 30th. The transition back to the winter blend starts in the fall. Winter-blend fuel must be able to evaporate at low temperatures for the engine to operate properly, especially when the engine is cold. Summer-blend gasoline has a lower volatility to prevent excessive evaporation when outside temperatures rise.
Premium Non-Ethanol Gasoline
Over 300 Stewart’s Shops locations are now offering Premium Non-Ethanol Gasoline. Premium Non-Ethanol Gasoline can improve mileage, provide better performance and safer operation for classic cars and recreational vehicles, such as snowmobiles, boats, and motorcycles, as well as lawn and snow equipment. It’s also more stable for long term storage, and less destructive to engines and fuel systems. Stewart’s Shops is proud to partner with EVolve NY and Tesla to offer our customers more options for ‘filling’ up their tanks with Electric Vehicle fast charging stations at select locations. Stewart’s Shops is known for a quick in and out and these fast chargers will provide the convenience our customers know and expect. As an energy provider for today and into the future, we have the ability to fuel any vehicle and grow our EV network at strategic locations.
