Do you make donations to non-profit organizations?

Yes.  In 2008, we will donate $2 Million of our profits to charitable organizations.

Where does your milk come from?

We buy milk from local farms near our dairy, for the freshest taste and best value.

Why does your fat free (skim) milk look and taste so good?

Unlike most dairies, we add non-fat milk solids to our skim milk so it looks and tastes more like higher fat milks (1%, 2%, whole).

Are there antibiotics from cows in your milk?

No. We test every load of milk to make sure that there are no antibiotics in Stewart’s milk and dairy products.

Where do your eggs come from?

Our eggs come from Thomas' Poultry Farm in Schuylerville, NY - just 15 miles east of our Dairy. We pick up the freshest eggs at the farm, 7 days a week.

Why are there fewer light ice cream and frozen yogurt flavors available than regular ice cream flavors?

Ice cream is a favorite with customers; light ice cream and frozen yogurt are less popular so we offer fewer.

Does your ice cream contain Gluten?

Of course different flavors contain different ingredients. Our ice cream packages have expanded labeling with current information. Please refer to the package to answer your question. If you are interested in a flavor at our cone counter that is not also in a package, our staff has a flip chart with ingredient listings which you can view.

Why are there so few light and frozen yogurt flavors?

 

We have noticed in our markets and nationally that more people are buying regular ice cream than light, frozen yogurt or sherbet.  Due to the decreasing interest in these products, we have limited the number of flavors so that we can continue to provide a quality product at a great value.

 

Can I buy your products or gift certificates on-line or through the mail?


We are not set up for on-line or mail order purchases, nor do we ship our products elsewhere.  Our plant and warehouse is focused on servicing and supplying over 300 Shops. 

 

Can you tell me if your Iced Coffee contains sugar or provide me with nutritional information?

Where does your gas come from; is it from foreign or domestic oil sources?

 

Most of our shops are not tied to one brand of gas.  This allows us to purchase quality gasoline from a number of different suppliers at the best price possible.  Unfortunately, no matter where the gasoline is purchased from, it comes from "big oil".  Not to mention that most of the United State's crude oil supply for refining comes from foreign sources.  Since refined gasoline products are openly traded on the world market, it is uncertain that anyone can be guaranteed that the gas they are purchasing came from a domestic or foreign crude oil source.

 

Is your firewood pest-free and safe to transport for home use or at campgrounds?


Yes. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation requires that producers of "New York-Approved Treated Firewood / Pest-Free" wood must certify their firewood has been heat treated to achieve a minimum wood core temperature of 71°C for a minimum of 75 minutes. The new requirement closely follows measures imposed by Pennsylvania and other states to stem the proliferation of invasive species that can wipe out trees in forests and neighborhoods, according a NYS DEC press release. Stewart's Shops supplier well exceeds federal and state regulations on the transportation of firewood.

Why are you sometimes out of items?

To ensure what we sell is fresh, we don’t keep large inventories. Deliveries are received every 3 days so our products are always being replenished.

Why don’t you have my favorite ice cream flavor?

We offer many different flavors each year and rotate them so you can discover new favorite flavors.

Your Lucky Tape is your register receipt or just a piece of paper. Write your name and phone number on the back of your receipt (or a piece of paper) and put it in the bucket on the counter at our shops for drawings to win Stewart's products, prizes, or maybe even a trip! These contests are run periodically; no purchase is necessary. Entries must be made at a Stewart's Shop. Stewart's employees, immediate family members, or prize sponsors are not eligible to enter.

Why can I only use the Milk Club card at the shop where I purchased it?

Because the Milk Club is such a great value, we need to have control over card usage to continue to offer it.  Click here for more information.

Can I get stamps for other beverages on my Milk Club card?

Yes. You also receive stamps for purchases of Stewart’s juice and tea. You can also redeem your full Milk Club card for one of these beverages.

Is there an ice cream club card like the milk club card?

We don’t offer an ice cream club card; for half gallons we have three “flavors of the week” on sale and three “all-flavor” ice cream sales each year.  At our cone counters, we also offer weekly specials.

Why don’t you take coupons?

We offer “value pricing” every day so we don’t waste your time clipping coupons.

Why do I always have to show my ID for beer and cigarettes?

ID’ing is required by law and is important for public safety, so we ID anyone who appears to be 30 or under.
